UNILORIN establishes committee to improve courseware effectiveness

The University of Ilorin has taken a fresh step toward improving teaching and digital learning with the reconstitution of its Committee on Courseware. The move is aimed at revitalising courseware programmes across the institution and enhancing the overall delivery of academic content. The decision, approved by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, was communicated through an internal memorandum issued by the Registrar, Mr Mansur Adeleke Alfanla. The development, as gathered, was formally conveyed earlier in the week. According to details from the memorandum, the committee is expected to drive the effective use and adoption of courseware within the University, ensuring that both lecturers and students benefit from improved digital learning systems. Professor Abdulwahab Olanrewaju Issa of the Department of Library and Information Science has been appointed to chair the committee, while Professor L. O. Aina will serve in a consultancy role. Other members include Professor Nafisat A. Adedokun-Shittu, Professor Christiana O. Abikoye, Dr A. O. Odutayo, Dr Rafiat A. Oyekunle, Dr Aderinola O. Dunmade, Engr M. A. Lawal, Dr F. O. Jimoh, and R. M. Abdullahi. V. I. Obalola will function as the committee’s secretary. Findings indicate that the committee has been assigned key responsibilities, including training facilitators on the use of courseware tools and equipping lecturers with the skills required for effective development and application of digital course materials. In addition, the committee is expected to propose workable strategies that will sustain the initiative and ensure its efficiency. It will also make further recommendations that can support the University in building a more structured and functional courseware system. The memorandum further noted that periodic reports will be submitted to the Vice Chancellor to monitor progress and implementation. The Registrar, in his remarks, congratulated the appointed members and expressed optimism that the committee would successfully deliver on its mandate.
